Skin Infections Among Tattoo Recipients

Skin infections are a common risk for tattoo recipients, particularly if the tattooing environment or aftercare procedures are inadequate. Infections can range from mild irritations to severe complications requiring medical attention.

MRSA is transmitted most frequently by direct skin-to-skin contact or contact with shared items or surfaces that have come into contact with someone else's infection.

The rise in skin infections, particularly those caused by MRSA and other antibiotic-resistant bacteria, has made it more important than ever for tattoo artists to educate clients about proper aftercare and to ensure that the tattooing environment is as sterile as possible.
