Emergency Responder Training

Emergency Response Trainer Qualifications

Trainers who teach any of the training subjects must have either:

  • completed a training course on the subjects they are expected to teach, or
  • they must have the training and/or academic credentials and instructional experience to demonstrate competent teaching skills.

Employees are not required to receive a certificate, but employers must certify the training through appropriate documentation.

Work Safe Conducts HAZWOPER Drill

The HAZWOPER standard does not mandate a specific certification for Awareness Level training. However, it is considered a best practice to issue training certificates to employees and maintain records of their training. Additionally, employers must document the training in their Emergency Response Plan (ERP) for personnel who respond to hazardous substance incidents.
