For example, in course 712 Safety Supervision and Leadership, Hector learned about the importance of Informal Observation, a tool supervisors can use to regularly monitor their work areas to identify and correct hazards.

Inspired by the course, Hector has made it a personal goal to leave his office and walk through clinic spaces at least once an hour to ensure smooth daily operations. He has encountered situations where employees were not practicing safe procedures, but rather than resorting to strict discipline, he now takes the opportunity to educate and train them. He explains not only the importance of compliance but also how safety impacts employees directly. This new approach has resulted in more productive, well-educated workers, contrasting with the previous method of strict discipline that often left employees disgruntled and unmotivated. Hector has even noticed that employees who were once corrected now take the initiative to guide others, reinforcing a culture of safety.
