05.G.05 Respirator Selection.
Respirator selection must be completed by the Respirator Program Administrator (RPA).
- The selection must be based on objective industrial hygiene data for this or similar operations.
- Before industrial hygiene data is obtained, the RPA must use knowledge of the hazard and work methods to determine the highest potential exposure, which must be used to select the respiratory protection.
- To determine the change out schedule of the respirator cartridge or respirator canister, the respirator program administrator must use manufacturer recommended change-out based on the operations or the objective industrial hygiene data or data from similar operations.
- An air purifying respirator must not be used in an atmosphere with less than 19% oxygen or an atmosphere that is immediately dangerous to life and health (IDLH).
