3-3. Personnel Required Qualification/Training.

First Aid and CPR Training

  • First aid attendants must have current certification from recognized organizations.
  • Training must include hands-on components and clearly state issue and expiration dates.
  • Certification requires retraining every two years.

Automatic External Defibrillator (AED)

  • Persons responsible for AEDs must receive training as per first aid and CPR guidelines.

First Aid Kit Training

  • Employees must be trained on the contents and use of first aid kit supplies.

Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP) Training

  • Employees exposed to blood or potentially infectious materials must be trained according to OSHA standards.

First Aid Attendants Responsibilities

  • First aid attendants provide aid as defined by OSHA.

Health Care Provider Requirements

  • Projects with a high number of employees must employ a full-time Health Care Provider.
  • In absence of a full-time provider, a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician or nurse with direct communication to a Health Care Provider may be used.
  • Military personnel with equivalent qualifications may substitute these roles when permitted by state law.
