4-8. General Requirements.

Temporary Structures

  • Construct temporary structures as per ASCE 7 standards, considering various loadings like dead, live, wind, and seismic forces.
  • Secure trailers and similar structures with rods, cables, or steel straps to ground anchors, ensuring resistance to wind as per state or local standards.
  • Maintain the area by controlling the growth of tall grass and weeds near the structures and ensure proper bonding and grounding near overhead electrical lines.

Fencing and Warning Signs

  • Install temporary fencing in public areas, extending from grade to a minimum of 4 feet above, with a maximum mesh size of 2 inches, ensuring rigidity and tautness.
  • Post warning signs on the fencing every 150 feet or at least one on sides less than 150 feet long, indicating construction hazards and restricting unauthorized entry.
  • Conduct a risk analysis to determine the necessity of fencing for specific project sites, posting warning signs conspicuously if fencing is not required.
