Emergency Procedures
- Employees exposed to shock hazards must receive first aid training (e.g., CPR, AED) as per NFPA 70E.
- Training must include methods of releasing victims who contact energized electrical conductors or parts and be updated annually.
- Even with exceptions for QP licensing, the required training must be provided.
Lithium Batteries
- Employees handling lithium batteries must learn proper fire prevention for primary and secondary batteries.
- They must recognize the differences between primary and secondary batteries and know eye protection protocols during fire mitigation.
- Training must cover safe storage, handling practices, and identification of damaged cells and signs of thermal runaway.
Retraining
- Retraining in safety-related practices and standard changes is required every three years or when specified conditions are met (e.g., changes in standards, lack of adherence to safety practices, introduction of new technology or procedures).
- Tasks performed less than annually require retraining before execution.
- Retraining is also necessary when there's a change in job assignments or when safety practices are not normally used.
Training Documentation
- Electrical safety training documentation is mandatory, following OSHA and ANSI Z490.1 guidelines.
