13-8. General Requirements.
Power-Driven Nailers and Staplers
- Nailers must be equipped with a safety device on the muzzle to ensure fasteners are only ejected when in contact with the work surface.
- Operate nailers in a safe manner, minimizing risks such as ricochets and air-firing, and ensure only one nail is ejected per trigger pull unless specifically allowed by the manufacturer for certain materials.
- Always disconnect the nailer from the power source before clearing jams or performing maintenance.
Jacks - Lever and Ratchet, Screw, and Hydraulic
- Clearly mark each jack with the manufacturer's rated capacity and ensure it's not exceeded.
- Ensure all jacks have a positive stop to prevent over-travel and immediately secure the load after raising it.
- Do not use jacks that are out of order; instead, tag them and wait for repairs before reuse.
