31-7. Minimum Plan Requirements.

Tree Maintenance and Removal Plan Overview

  • A Qualified Tree Worker must develop the Tree Maintenance and Removal Plan, submit it to the USACE supervisor, KO, or COR for necessary approvals or acceptance before starting any tree maintenance or removal activities.

Plan Components

  • Include a detailed description of the activity, specifying the tools, resources, and PPE required. For tree felling/removal, detail the tree sizes, selected direction of fall, and landing zone. For tree climbing, outline climbing techniques and equipment.
  • Describe anticipated hazards or concerns, focusing on size, terrain characteristics, and limitations of the work area.
  • List the assignment of personnel, their roles, responsibilities, and necessary qualification/training information.

Safety and Control Measures

  • Identify a retreat path for emergencies.
  • Detail access control measures to secure the work site.
  • Specify inspection and oversight methods to ensure the plan is followed correctly.
