Introduction

According to estimates made by the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), more than 3 million workers in the United States are potentially exposed to lead in the workplace. This course covers OSHA requirements and best practices in general industry where an employee may be occupationally exposed to lead.

The focus of the training is on lead safety for general industry. The course provides a general awareness of lead, the risks, preventive measures, and OSHA 1910.1025.

Course Objectives

At the end of this course, you should be able to:

LO 1.2.1 Describe and give examples of the hierarchy of controls in controlling exposure to lead.
LO 1.3.1 Identify the various types of respirators and the requirements for their use to protect against lead exposure.
LO 1.3.2 Describe employer and employee responsibilities associated with the respirator protection program.
LO 1.3.3 Identify the requirements for fit testing and inspecting respirators.
