Lighting for Employees
Employees must have enough light to do their work safely. Illumination is commonly measured in foot-candles.
One foot-candle is the illumination produced by one candle at one foot. The most practical way to measure illumination is with a light meter.
Areas accessible to employees must be lighted to not less than the minimum illumination intensities listed in OSHA 1910.120, Table H-120-1 while any work is in progress:
