Introduction
The Workplace Hygiene Program is designed to ensure a clean, healthy, and safe environment by managing hygiene risks and preventing related injuries, illnesses, and diseases. There is no specific OSHA standard covering workplace hygiene and illness prevention. However, employers must still comply with the requirements of the OSHA Act of 1970, General Duty Clause, Section 5, Duties.
The first part of the course covers hygiene and housekeeping best practices, as well as the types, symptoms, and treatment of contagious diseases. Those interested only in these topics should complete Course 138 Workplace Hygiene and Illness Prevention. The final two sections focus on implementing and managing an effective workplace hygiene and illness prevention program.
