Skip to main content

Pre-planning

The first step in the scaffold erection process is effective pre-planning. A qualified person should do adequate pre-planning to make sure the scaffold is erected properly.

Scaffolds must be designed and inspected during erection by qualified persons.

A successful pre-planning process includes the following steps:

  1. determine the type of scaffold necessary for the job;
  2. determine the maximum load of the scaffold;
  3. assure a good foundation by checking the soil;
  4. ensure you can avoid electrical hazards; and
  5. notify utility companies prior to scaffold erection.
