"OSHAcademy training helps students stand out, be knowledgeable, and it is preparing them to go out and be safe… The integrity of the courses and what they
have provided to our program is huge."
Janine Ensign, Program Coordinator
Located in Livingston, Montana, Park High School offers a comprehensive Work-Based Learning program that immerses students in practical experiences across various career fields. Coordinated by Janine Ensign, the program is designed to increase students' exposure to real-world workplaces as they near graduation, enhancing their chances of pursuing further education or vocational training. Ensign emphasizes the value of this exposure: "My job is to do everything I can do to help them be prepared for the next stop… and to stand out and feel confident in their skills."
The curriculum includes a selection of OSHAcademy courses targeted at upperclassmen, covering essential workplace skills such as 162 Accident Investigation: Basic, 613 Worker Safety in Restaurants, and several healthcare-related topics. Students must complete two to three relevant courses, which Ensign believes are crucial for gaining recognition during college and scholarship applications. "It gives them a chance for them to 'be known' when they apply for colleges and scholarships. They will have ALL these certifications, which will make them feel confident as they start to enter their field."
Ensign also praises the benefits of OSHAcademy training, particularly the educator discounts available, highlighting how this training prepares students to stand out in the workforce: "OSHAcademy training helps students stand out, be knowledgeable, and it is preparing them to go out and be safe… The integrity of the courses and what they have provided to our program is huge."
Through these initiatives, Park High School's Work-Based Learning program not only equips students with practical skills and certifications but also instills a lifelong appreciation for safety and preparedness in professional settings.
OSHAcademy would like to recognize Park High School for their continued efforts toward workplace safety and health.
