10-4. Roles and Responsibilities.

Critical Weld Inspectors

  • Inspectors with CWSI, CWI, or equivalent qualifications must examine all welds on critical items.

Competent Person (CP)

  • CP must assess hazards and determine necessary controls for welding, cutting, and heating operations not involving conditions or materials described in the chapter.

10-5. Inspection Requirements.

Welding Equipment Inspection

  • Examine all welding equipment before use to ensure safety devices and ancillary equipment are present and functioning.
  • Remove and repair or replace defective equipment, and re-inspect before returning it to service.
  • Specifically inspect torches, cables, shut-off valves, couplings, and tips.
