32-8. General Requirements.

Notice to Air Mission (NOTAM)

  • Report hazards in landing areas to the Airfield Manager, who, unless directed otherwise by the USACE supervisor/KO or COR, will prepare an FAA NOTAM.
  • During daylight, mark areas with reflective barricades, lights, signs, or orange/red flags as per FAA AC 150/5370-2G and with Airfield Manager's approval.
  • At night or in low visibility, use battery-operated, low-intensity omni-directional red flashing lights to outline areas, following the spacing guidance of FAA AC 150/5370-2G and with Airfield Manager's approval.

Notice of Proposed Construction or Alteration

  • Submit FAA Form 7460-1 for new airfields, heliports, helipad, or hoverpoints construction or modifications that affect airspace or aircraft densities for FAA's aeronautical study.
  • File one form for the entire construction area and maximum equipment height, and separate forms for any object beyond or higher than the initially evaluated obstruction.

Prohibitions

  • Do not use tall equipment like cranes or concrete pumps unless an FAA Form 7460-1 response determination letter is issued by the FAA.
  • Do not use open-flame welding or torches unless fire safety precautions are met and approved by the Airport Operator.
  • Do not use electrical blasting caps within 1,000 feet of airport property, nor flare pots within the AOA.
