36-5. Inspection Requirements.

Inspection Responsibilities

  • The SSHO must perform inspections to ensure the effectiveness of support zones, CRZ (Controlled Risk Zone), and EZ (Exclusion Zone).
  • Exposure controls including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be evaluated for effectiveness by the SSHO.
  • Decontamination procedures implementation and effectiveness are the responsibility of the SSHO to check.

Monitoring and Emergency Preparedness

  • The SSHO must ensure the correct use of occupational exposure sampling and monitoring equipment and document the monitoring results.
  • It is the SSHO's duty to arrange and rehearse emergency response services with local emergency response providers.

36-6. Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA) Requirements.

Developing Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs)

  • AHAs must be created following the guidelines of paragraphs 1-6 or 2-6, tailored to the project's nature, specifically for environmental cleanup and investigation projects.
  • The Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) must be consulted during the development of AHAs to ensure comprehensive coverage of safety measures.

Identification of Hazards and Exposures

  • Identify the potential hazards and routes of contamination exposure that workers might face at each step of the job activities.

Exposure Controls

  • Provide detailed exposure controls to either eliminate or reduce worker exposure to contamination, applicable to each step of the job activities.
