Shared Tools, Equipment, and Personal Protective Equipment

The CPP should include a policy that states that gloves, goggles, face shields, and other PPE should not be shared.

Be sure to clean anything that is shared. PPE must not be shared.

Items that employees regularly contact, such as phones, headsets, desks, keyboards, writing materials, instruments, and tools, should not be shared.

Important related policies should include:

  • Where there must be sharing, items should be disinfected between uses. Either cleaning/sanitizing crews or trained employees should be provided with the materials to do it themselves.
  • Sharing vehicles should be minimized. High-touch points (for example, steering wheel, door handles, seatbelt buckles, armrests, shifter, etc.) should be disinfected between users.
