Lighting for Employees

Employees must have enough light to do their work safely. The table below shows the minimum illumination intensities in foot-candles for typical areas at hazardous-waste operations.

Illumination is commonly measured in foot-candles. One foot-candle is the illumination produced by one candle at one foot. The most practical way to measure illumination is with a light meter.
