Required Information
Per 1910.120(c)(4), the following information to the extent available must be obtained by the employer before allowing employees to enter a site:
- location and approximate size of the site
- description of the response activity and/or the job task to be performed
- duration of the planned employee activity
- site topography and accessibility by air and roads, including:
- meteorological data, e.g., current weather and forecast, prevailing wind direction, precipitation levels, temperature profiles
- terrain, e.g., historical and current site maps, site photographs, aerial photographs, U.S. Geological Survey topographic quadrangle maps, land use maps, and land cover maps
- geologic and hydrologic data
- habitation-population centers, population at risk
- chemical and physical properties of expected hazardous substances and health hazards
- pathways for hazardous substance dispersion
- present status and capabilities of emergency response teams that would assist on-site employees at the time of an emergency
- hazardous substances and health hazards involved or expected at the site and their properties
