Take Photos of the Accident Scene
When taking photos, begin with wide-angle shots and gradually zoom in for close-ups as you capture the images.

Photograph everything!
Below are some other important points to remember about taking photos:
- Take photos from different locations to show the position of objects in the accident scene and capture minute and/or transient details such as the ends of broken ropes, defective tools, drugs, wet areas, or containers.
- Capture panoramic photos to present the entire scene from top to bottom and side to side.
- Make sure to take notes for each photo. These notes will be included in the appendix of the report along with the photos. Identify the type of photo, date, time, location, direction (N, E, S, W), subject, weather conditions, measurements, etc.
- If photographing hard-to-measure objects, place an item of known dimensions such as a ruler or pencil in the photo for reference.
- Clearly identify the person taking the photos.
- Consider indicating the locations and directions at which photos were taken on sketches.
