9-5. Inspection Requirements.

Portable Fire Extinguishers

  • Inspect and maintain according to NFPA 10, ensuring at least monthly inspections.
  • Record the date and inspector's initials on a tag, checklist, or electronic record.
  • Annual maintenance checks must be performed by designated personnel or certified technicians for certain deficiencies.

Fixed Fire Suppression Systems

  • Follow UFC 3-601-02 or applicable NFPA standards for inspection and maintenance.
  • Document inspection and maintenance dates on the container, tag, or in a central location.

Standpipe and Hose Systems

  • Regularly inspect and maintain standpipe systems according to UFC 3-601-02.
  • Check hose systems after use and annually, ensuring all equipment is ready and functional.
  • Annually inspect hemp and linen hoses for deterioration, and re-rack using a different fold pattern.

9-6. Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA) Requirements.

Development of AHAs

  • Develop AHAs in alignment with paragraphs 1-6 or 2-6, as the situation necessitates.
  • Ensure AHAs are prepared for wildland fire prescribed burns as mandated in paragraphs 9-7.b and 9-8.l.

Fire Watch Duties

  • The employer determines the duration of the fire watch, but it must last at least thirty (30) minutes after the exposure concludes.
  • Document the duration of the fire watch in the AHA as specified in paragraph 9-8.g.
