26-3. Personnel Required Qualification/Training.
Authorized Entrants
- Authorized Entrants must complete safety instruction, learning to recognize and avoid hazards in underground construction as specified in 29 CFR 1926.800 and 29 CFR 1926 Subpart S.
- They must also understand all relevant plans detailed in paragraph 26-7.
Designated Persons
- Designated Persons must receive Authorized Entrant training and understand the check-in and check-out system at the site.
- They must know how to activate the Rescue Team and other emergency services during emergencies.
- Additionally, they need a comprehensive understanding of the site’s lighting, ventilation, communication, and other life safety systems to manage any failures effectively.
Rescue Team
- Rescue Team members must be familiar with the site and current underground construction operations that may affect their response plan.
- They are required to receive complete training in line with NFPA-1006 or an equivalent standard approved by the USACE supervisor/KO or COR.
