Introduction
OSHA recommends the use of safety committees and they are required by approximately 14 "State Plan" OSHA agencies. Safety committees offer substantial benefits to companies and other organizations. Unfortunately, some established safety committees do not understand their purpose or proper role as an internal consultant group that can assist management in providing an effective safe and healthful workplace.
This course helps the student understand his/her responsibilities as a safety committee member. It will also guide the safety committee chairperson in successfully leading a safety team and developing a world-class safety culture. This course is part of the OSHAcademy 32-Hour Safety and Health Committee Member Program and 36-Hour Safety and Health Committee Chair Program.
