Solving Safety Problems
Solving safety-related problems centers on two key strategies:
- Solving surface-cause problems: Eliminating or reducing unique hazardous conditions and unsafe work behaviors that represent the surface causes of accidents.
- Solving root-cause problems: Improving inadequate or missing safety and health programs, policies, plans, processes, procedures, and practices that represent the root causes contributing to hazardous conditions and unsafe behaviors.
