Introduction

In the previous module, we examined observation, inspection, and the Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) processes to identify and reduce hazardous conditions and unsafe behaviors in the workplace.

Once hazardous conditions or unsafe behaviors are identified, supervisors must make sure hazard conditions or unsafe behaviors are reduced as soon as possible. This is achieved by implementing one or more control strategies from the hierarchy of controls.

This module will cover the application of a hierarchy of control strategies to effectively eliminate or reduce hazards and prevent employee exposure to them. For additional insights into enhancing the safety management system, refer to course 704 Hazard Analysis and Control and course 716 Safety Management System Evaluation.
