15-8. General Requirements.
Alloy Steel Chain Slings

- Label multiple leg slings with the number of legs and their lengths on the tag.
Rigging Hardware
- Do not paint rigging hardware unless approved by the manufacturer, as it can hide defects.
- Ensure drums, sheaves, and pulleys are smooth and defect-free to avoid damaging rigging.
- Use only high-quality connections, fittings, fastenings, and attachments, installed according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Shackles
- Use shackles made according to ASME B30.26, with clear markings of manufacturer, WLL, and size.
- Ensure shackle repairs or modifications adhere to the manufacturer's specifications, and use parts that meet or exceed original standards.
- Follow the manufacturer's instructions for shackle use and load, and adjust rated load when side loading as per the manufacturer or ASME B30.26.
