27-8. General Requirements.

Roofing Instructions

  • A Qualified Person (QP) must perform a structural analysis of the roof to ensure the load capacity is not exceeded before starting work.
  • Halt roofing activities promptly during severe weather conditions like strong winds or heavy rain.
  • Ensure materials and equipment for roofs over 16 feet high are supplied via hoisting devices, stairways, or progressive platforms.

Wood Construction Guidelines

  • All wood used must comply with building codes and design criteria, with inspections for compliance, especially for temporary platforms or fall protection systems.
  • Implement temporary restraints, like cleats or straps, before manually raising framed walls 10 feet or higher, and avoid relying solely on anchor bolts for blocking or bracing.
  • Ensure employees don't work or walk on structural members like top plates or joists until they're securely braced and supported.
