Equivalent Training
Employers who can document or certify an employee's work experience and/or training that is equivalent to the training requirements detailed in 1910.120 (e)(1) through (e)(4) are not required to provide the initial training to the employee. A copy of the certification or documentation must be provided to the employee (and OSHA) upon request.
Certified employees or employees with equivalent training new to a site must receive appropriate, site specific training before entering the site. They must also have appropriate supervised field experience at the new site.
Equivalent training includes any academic training or the training that existing employees might have already received from actual hazardous waste site experience.
