6-4. Roles and Responsibilities.

Industrial Hygienist (IH)

  • Conduct hazard evaluations of jobsite operations, materials, and equipment for potential exposure to hazardous or toxic agents, identifying workplace hazards and required plans (para 6-8.a).
  • Analyze testing and monitoring results to assess the concentration and hazards of hazardous or toxic agents (para 6-8.d).
  • Examine activities that could produce airborne contaminants like gases, vapors, fumes, mist, or dusts, evaluating potential personnel exposure (para 6-8.p).

Qualified Person (QP)

  • Understand health and environmental risks of chemical substances due to education, training, or experience (chapters 1 or 2).
  • Oversee the storage of hazardous chemicals, materials, substances, and wastes before transportation (para 6-8.e).
